As a fisheries ecologist in southern Maine working in aquaculture, I initially created TideMinded to address a noticeable lack of species identification guides relevant to the field. These ‘critter ID guides’ were designed to help aquatics professionals better connect with the surrounding ecosystem through education, accessibility, and familiarity.
TideMinded has since expanded into offering delicious, local seafood harvested by hand from the cool, clean waters of southern Maine. Best of all, TideMinded seafood focuses on ‘beating by eating’ the invasive species that threaten the health of our traditional fisheries and marine ecosystems.
This is seafood you can always feel good about.
LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
TideMinded acknowledges that its work takes place on the traditional homeland, past and present, of the peoples of the Wabanaki Confederacy, including the Penobscot, the Passmaquoddy, the Maliseets, and the Mi’kmaq. TideMinded honors the people of the Sokokis Tribe who once lived on this land and called it Owascoag, the “land of much grass,” and supports tribal efforts to protect, restore, and preserve the area's ecological well-being.
